Hello. My name is Melissa Porterfield. Thank you for entrusting me with your healthcare needs. I'd love to share my credentials with you. I have my degree in pharmacy from UNC Chapel Hill, and I hold certifications in medication management for the elderly, disabled, and any patient that is confused by their medicine. I've been passionate all of my life about helping people achieve their healthcare goals. When I was a retail pharmacist, I noticed that many people faced confusion regarding their conditions and medication. Many patients were experiencing side effects and did not know how to organize their medication on a proper schedule. I left retail pharmacy to start Safety First Medication Management because there is a huge need for private care in this area. I believe that all patients deserve one-on-one time for proper counseling when it comes to medication.


Sadly, with an overloaded healthcare system, a patient might feel rushed and overlooked and leave appointments confused. This is where I step in. I will teach you about your medical issues and instruct you regarding how to take your medications, which will hopefully minimize side effects. I will also organize your pharmaceuticals for you and check for worrisome drug interactions. We will also learn together about the safest over-the-counter products. After being properly taught, all of the confusion that can come from your medications will have clarity and understanding. This will alleviate the stress that can come from pharmaceuticals. I will be there as your partner, and we can meet either a few times or monthly to make sure you're properly cared for. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am the mother of four precious children, one of whom has severe special needs and disabilities. It has been my blessing to care for my children. I love my fur babies, and exercising is a passion of mine. I like to cook and study new things to keep learning. It will be such an honor to meet you and help you along in your healthcare journey.
